The town of Stowe, Vermont’s major public safety agencies (Police Dept., Fire Dept., Mountain Rescue, and EMS) previously had their own websites offering a variety of information, downloads, contact info, etc.
Our mission was to combine them all, including the overall umbrella organization of Stowe Emergency Management, into a cohesive, branded hub where citizens and visitors can find popular information quickly, regardless of whether they knew which agency might handle their particular requests. Contact information, documents and forms, and frequently asked questions are easily discovered and searchable on this single site, instead of guessing and rooting around the various satellite sites. The independent agencies have integrated department staff and contacts with a couple of plugins, making staff listing management automatic from the town server to the website.
This effort also included the combining of all of their assorted social presences into one name, for Facebook and Twitter, reducing any messaging discrepancies, and minimizing the work to manage numerous accounts.
