I’m stretching my bloggin’ wings a tiny bit by signing up for Gwen Bell’s [@gwenbell] The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge. You should too!

Best Restaurant Experience 2009: My fave meal delivered 3,000 miles away

Dragonfish Asian Cafe, Seattle, WAThis summer brought my first visitors to my newly adopted home in Vermont. A couple of great friends flew over from Seattle to spend a New England weekend with me this spring.

After picking them up from the airport and relaxing at the lake house I’d rented all winter, my friend Linda presented me with what could be the best gift ever – a dry iced to go box containing my favorite meal from Seattle: Dragonfish Asian Cafe’s Dragonfire Chicken. She had picked it up on her way to Sea-Tac airport for the red-eye flight.

Still a frozen brick, I popped it in the freezer to enjoy after they had left – because there was no way I was going to share that spicy, peanut-y char-broiled deliciousness with anyone. I had been jonesing for Dragonfish since my last Seattle visit and I could hardly wait to indulge again so far away.

It was probably the most thoughtful gift I had ever received. I can taste it now. Maybe I’ll book a flight to SEA…
