OREGON
TravelOregon.com A grand scale blogging effort, TravelOregon.com offers a very robust blog section of their visitor website. Brilliantly organized categories, and packed with useful information, links, images and videos, the posts are curated from bloggers from around the state.
VANCOUVER, B.C.
Tourism Vancouver’s blog, InsideVancouver.com is written by locals to give the ultimate insider’s view of Vancouver, providing information, stories and opinions from the locals’ perspective. I love the simplistic, modern layout. Nice video section and the photo essays are really interesting. Great photography throughout.
PHILADELPHIA, PA
uwishunu.com is the official tourism blog for VisitPhilly.com. Curated bloggers share stories about all things cool in Philly, like nightlife, the food scene, music scene, culture, etc. This is one of the extremely rare cases where a designer would say, “Make the logo bigger.”
MONTRÉAL
Tourism Montréal’s ultimate blog, Montréal Buzz touts itself as the Insider take on the City. Posts are brief but always a video or nice image of whatever topic is covered. I like that they add an author headshot (most articles show actual people – not a generic logo) which lends so much more personality and authenticity.
TUNICA, MS
Tunica CVB‘s blog is titled “Down the Road in Tunica” and is branded seamlessly with their main TravelTunica.com website. Tunica draws a lot of tourist traffic with its casinos, and their blog is packed with tips and tricks for casino games. Lately, due to the raging Mississippi river and flooding in the area, they’ve kept their audience abreast of closings and other updates. Certainly useful to anyone planning a trip or living in the area.
PHOENIX, AZ
The Hot Sheet is the cleverly-named official blog for VisitPhoenix.com. Posts are thoughtfully categorized as the navigation menu and most have decent photos – real snaps not stock or dated photography.
Any standouts to include in the next showcase?
